ABout Me

I'm Ryan Cortez. I'm a iOS software engineer, based in Austin Texas. I currently work at Hangar Technology.

The most rewarding parts of my day are getting to work with great technology and share it with others. It's imperative in the coming years that technology becomes more accessible. Technology is the great equalizer, it raises up the poor, it awakens and informs; It helps enrich our lives, from our health, to our connections with our family and friends. I've seen too many people having missed opportunities to change their life simply from not being able to use the the current technology we have available.

Teaching and sharing with others is my North Star, and all my decisions stem from it.

My Background

Before being an iOS developer I worked at Apple as a Mac Genius for 5 years. I throw passion into my work, this gave me the opportunity to stand out, and I was offered a temporary position as a QA Engineer for on Apple's UIKit team, one of Apple's software frameworks. I created automated tests and performed regression and exploration testing on code changes made by Apple engineers. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I was honored to have been given it.

I have been performing iOS development for three years using Objective-C and Swift. I participated in an accelerated course at The Iron Yard, the largest coding bootcamp in the world to sharpen my development skills where we worked on 32 coding projects.
